Hi guys
I'm looking at a driveline transplant for my HQ ute and ive found an HJ 253 trimatic ute that should slot in quite nice. Here's the catch
She breathes a fair bit but hasn't had a real good run in a couple of years. has a 4 barrel rochester which is running rich as the plugs are black. Shes also puffing grey/white smoke out the exhaust but it doesn't small like oil burning. Plugs are not oily and rocker gear is clean.
Has a small cam, Wb elec ignition and extractors.
Also i'm suss on the trimatic as it isn't very good in reverse. she was down on a oil (big leak) a little but maybe only a litre or two. She takes a while to engage and then needs to revv heaps before she will move. All forward gears are fine.
It's a pretty cheap but i don't really want to go through the effort if the motor and trans are stuffed.
kinda hard to find a driveline that can be test driven
