had a change of plans and decided to get the HJ Sandman back on the road, new 350 and some tlc and have been driving it for about 2 months and loving it.I keep looking at this HQ and really dont know which way to go with it,restore back to factory.replica Sandman or leave it ratty but roadworthy. We already have 3 red cars and there were so many great HQ colours I thought maybe a rare HQ colour would be an idea and leave the statesman front on it and HQ bucket seats with all GTS options. Value doesn't come into it for me because I really don't think it will be worth any more restored back to original in fact I think it would be worth more as a replica Sandman.any thoughts? Cheers

I'm a fan of making a HQ replica Sandman without ever placing the Sandman name on it. Eyebrows stripes but no "Sandman". Because it isn't a Sandman I'm all for customising a little but attempting to keep a factory look (as if the factory "could" have done it). The more factory looking mods the better. If for no other reason than to break the brains of all the Sandman experts. I'm not a fan of Premier or Statesman noses on Sandmans (or replica Sandmans). But it's each to there own.

You could always do a factory looking Statesman van.

Never been much a fan of the survivor or ratty looks, they all look like they need fixing to me!

I was thinking the same thing....I also like the idea of a statesman van with black leather trim and maybe a champagne colour or sunburst but then again HQ Sandman vans are so nice...decisions decisions I think I'm going to need more vans!
