There are two cables 9937638 which does HD-HG, HJ-WB Ute & Van where the wire is about 385mm between fittings. The HQ Ute part 2816259 is about 355mm between fittings ( where the crimping is). the 30mm variance is what may be causing your fitment issues. There is a similar situation with the hinges where the HQ is different.

Most good hardware stores that sell stainless wire cable would have a crimping tool and crimps. I've done a lot of balcony handrails and borrow the tool from my local store at no charge, so I'm sure if you went in an had the cable ready to crimp they would be happy to let you buy a crimp and do it on the spot.

I have contacted Sandman 78 and will try and resolve his issue with a pair of matching cables. A bent hinge, that was straightened, may be part of the problem. Results will be posted.
