    Hmmm. Do you have the long code VIN plate? Should be on other side?
    Cos so far I think that is telling us it is a Papaya coloured Panelvan... :errf: It should read 8MW80 for it to be a ute....im pretty sure.

    Looks to be a pano chopped into a ute.

    Does the chassis match the tags?

    Many panos back in the day where chopped into utes. This is because it gave you a mint back tray. No holes in the sides for tarps etc etc.

    HX8WM70 (70 = panel van)
    L32 = High compression 253
    M20 = 4 speed floor shift

    8M70RGL3******X
    8M70 (70= Panel van) R (R= 253 H/comp) G (G=1977) L3 (L3= Adelaide built) the rest is the production number.

    Back in the 80's a lot of vans were cut down to utes. Looks like you have one of them.

    What is the seating capacity on the tag?

    g'day mate. Glad you found the site and also glad you thought of coming here after you bought your car.

    Could be a couple options for you here;
    1. Original Sandman or Not but was originally a Panelvan and chopped to a ute.
    This was very common, because in the mid to late 1980's panelvans were sooo 70's.

    2. You may have a rebodied ute/chassis.

    First this you want to do is check the chassis number, it is located on the drivers side chassis rail just next to the steering box. Get a rag and de greaser to check it thoroughly.
    According to your plate details the chassis number should be 01019B.

    Let us know how you go.

    Also importantly, on the body plate bottom right hand corner it will tell you the Seating Cap either 2 or 3. let us know what that is too.

    What is the interior like? Floor shift, column? GTS dash etc. Thanks for the photos so far and let's hope you got a good one!

    All is not lost:eek:....If the seating capacity is "2" you have a Sandman panelvan without the van bit. Just go get ya self a van body and you're set:shifty:
