Diff ratio information
a few years ago I brought a diff centre for a banjo diff I asked for a 3.08:1 ratio to replace the 3.55:1 I've only just un wraped it and on the steel seal guard where the Yoke it is stamped 3.55 but on the crown gear has stamped in it Holden then a part number then 2.75 ratio. The pinion gear has something stamped into it as well but not sure what it is.
So how do I find out what the ratio really is???
Divide the number of teeth on the crown wheel by the number of teeth on the pinion.
It'll be a 2.78:1.
Whatever number is on the crownwheel is the ratio.
The number stamped on the seal guard you talk about is what it was originally, so it's been rebuilt.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
It is more than rebuilt. They've just used a 3.55 flange on a 2.78:1 diff. The whole banjo centre is different for 2.78 and 3.08 ratios.
