Thought I'd register to see what you guys are up to

    All

At Greg's suggestion I thought I'd register and drop in from time to time when I can.

Blocker, I got knocked back on the registration process on the "which manufacturer made the Sandman" question as the answer is wrong! The answer is GMH, not Holden!

I found an 11/79 HZ XU4 this morning, ex Police paddy wagon. It is the 3rd I have recorded, all 11/79, all XU4, all 253 M40, all the same colour.

Sandman book is progressing but it is getting bigger than Ben Hur. I still needs heaps more info, but it is slowly coming together. There is so much more detail that will be in there about Sandmans that will amaze you all when you see it. It'll probably cause a re-write of the technical/ID section of this site!

Welcome, and if you would only know the amount of people that can't spell Holden!!! At least it's kept the Chinese and Nigerian forum spammers off here.

Look forward to your input mate.

I've asked for a picture of it because the number quoted was different to what it should be. Number quoted is 9947525 (one digit different)

No, as the big unknown yet is when I will find the documentation I need. It's still in the Word document phase. I have yet to even decide how to publish it, whether it'll be a book, magazine (like the AMC ID handbook) etc.

    Hmm thats weird!

Im wondering maybe.... The later models HZ got a different number to the early HZ XU4......... Because like you say its one number higher.

hmmmm..... Im keen as mustard mate to see a pic of it!

AH Har - EDIT: I just looked at my placard list. 9947525 is to suit 10cwt WB Ute or Van. So maybe. Like I said maybe the late HZ's got the WB XU4 placard. Or maybe the lids been replaced with a WB XU4 placard. But this would be very very unlikely as there wouldnt be many XU4 WB's around.

Interesting Very very interesting! Still keen to see a pic tho.
