Don't like how the plates are screwed to the car, might mean a rebirth

I know the guy who has now bought this car. Seems like the genuine article, complete with the white need GTS dash, guards which are genuine, and the GTS Steering wheel. Sure, all these things can be added, however along with the tags it all adds up.

    cheers

Centre cap on the steering wheel is not correct for HJ Sandman. It's not a Kingswood either as the add states.

Agree...you really want to look at the chassis numbers to see if its a match

More likely from the repaint rather than a rebirth. I used to drill out the pop rivets to take the plates off when I repainted the entire car, masking them up looks like a shitty paint job and the paint always ends up flaking away around the edges. I would reattach them with nice chrome self tapping screws after giving the plates a clean. No one cared about originality back in the 80's..... They were just old Holdens or Fords.

checking all numbers match is a given though when trying to ID a Sandman......

I remember when I resprayed my wb some years back and the RTA didn't want to re register it because I removed them to do the respray. It took a lot of running around to get it finally registered.

There issue is the stupid screws they used. If they didn't go to the trouble to use correct rivets to put the tags back on what other corners were cut???
The RTA would not care about tags. They are not relevant to rego. They only check engine and chassis numbers.
