what about the yoyo competitions, walk the dog, round the world, ect.
Coolest kids at school wore desert boots.
Older (hehehe, they to me must have been at least 16!) chicks walking around wearing boob tube and real short denim skirts around the shops in Panania (I used to visit my cousins when they were living there in the late 70's/early 80's, one of my uncle's owned the newsagency there). Well, we all now know just who (or what) those girls were nowadays...
Buying fireworks at the local milkbar (heaps cooler than buying the 1-5 cent lollies I was buying 12 months earlier).
That same milk bar would close just after lunch on saturday and wouldn't re-open until monday morning...
You could play/ride your bike in the empty streets after closing time on saturday and sunday and there was no such thing as perverts or bad people. "Home when the streetlights are on kiddo or I'll tan yer hide".... still rings in my ears to this day.
Shrinking chip packets under the griller while mum was out and hoping she'd never find-out.
More shows: F Troop (B+W), My Favourite Martian (B+W), Chattanooga Cats, Huckleberry Hound, Woody Woodpecker, the Banana Splits, My three Sons (probably a re-run even then), Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard etc etc.
Ahhh, need to go to bed...
