Leaf springs or coils

Our HQ van has has leaf springs suspension and a ten bolt diff. Our intentions are to make it a show car, but we also want to ultimately enter the burn out comps, such as the summer nats... Should we leave the leaf springs in, or is there a kit or something to change to coil springs? Or, is there a way to add something to the leaf springs to stop them tramping, as I am not too keen on putting on tramp rods. I am getting ready to get the chassis powder coated, and am wondering if I need to make any modifications to the chassis before it gets coated. Any suggestions?

You are opening a can of worms here. Show Car, Burnouts and 10 bolt don't live in the same sentence. (Not for long anyway!)
Ford 9" for overall strength. Independent rear for show points and drivability, Jag, Holden IRS etc.

The advantage of Caltracs... bolt on, no mods. Its a cheaper alternative for the street with decent horsepower. As for a burnout machine, you really have to invest in a bullet proof setup, or you'll be breaking stuff before you know it.

Go the 9" with top shelf internals

Yeah, I have also considered the 9".... I guess we're trying to find the right compromise... It hurts me to put a ford part into a holden car. For the conversion I expect I would need 9" housing, lsd centre, the axles, brake discs, full conversion... and then how to the coils go on? Are they just coil overs on the existing mounts...? Are there any diagrams or something that would show us how to do it....? again, it hurts me to put a ford part into holden...

31 spline axles.....floating hubs.....full spool. How thick is your wallet?

Not sure my wallet is deep enough. Looks like maybe 9" is the way to go... I know there is a guy down on the Gold Coast selling 9" housings adaptable to any car, but I am not sure how to fit everything together, what brackets and other bits will I need. Does anyone have any detailed instructions on how to install it??
