308 engine

Hi all,got given a 308 engine today complete minus tappet covers.for those interested in the numbers its.QT910568 . 14L7 date code,arrow points to the five on the time clock. so i think it was built 14/11/1977 at five pm?.

Im not trying to sell it but if someone needed it to make a sandman complete i would gladly help them out.

Would work fine for a 12/77 HZ GTS or Sandman, even into 1/78 possibly.

i would be happy to swap it for another red 308 engine,mine is a 75 model so its too far out for me,i haven't dropped the sump or checked the bores yet but looks ok so far.

That's the casting date of the engine block, not the build date of the engine.

Mmm interesting my van is 9/77 hz but my motor is out of a 308 hj vacationer wagon
and i know the history of my motor rebuilt a long time ago would need a freshen up by now
but your on the other side of the planet

it wouldn't be cheap,i took the sump off tonight and the rod ends have been stamped with centre punch in numerical order and look like newish head gaskets so i think it has been rebuilt.i am heading to perth probably saturday to see my very ill father pity i couldn't throw it in as hand luggage lol .
