Sydney built 308 M21 XX7 HJ Kingswood ute in Absinth Yellow, a shame they left the 253 in it.... Seems a lot of cash for what seems to me to be an average, not overly correct restoration.
doesnt take a lot of skill to buy a heap of reproduction parts and stick them on a freshly painted ute. I don't see the money in it considering how much is incorrect with it.

It's a stunning looking Ute. Presents nicely. Yeah it it has some repro bits, they can be corrected over time.
253 is a big no-no! The price reflects "car yard" asking. I reckon if you keen on Sandman Ute's and the colour does it for you it would be negotiating on for sure.
Real price? Maybe $27 to $32K But if they take a trade in well that helps and might just get someone over the line.
It has a lot going for it.
It is nice but it has been ruined by removing the tarp clips, and I bet holes are welded up. Too much $.
Been there for a fair while now ,so maybe someone could talk them around but I doubt it .
Yes, a very nice car indeed. Pricey but you never know.
Where is the XX7 stamping?
Looked at this one in person when in QLD.Very nice but agree with Absinth lots of repo parts but they do give a good story of who restored and how they did it.From all the other cars there Ben and his crew are very committed in what they do.Love there policy that they only work on cars with chrome bumpers.Iam with HK on the tarp clips utes just aren't right when they are welded up.
A Sandman doesn't have to be stamped XX7 to be an XX7 Sandman. All HQ and HJ to late 75 were XX7 Sandmans whether stamped or not.Originally Posted by Gunna Do

Is that much of an issue? Is it just an originality thing or do people really hate not having side clips. The prototype sandman didn't have side tarp clips, and I personally think it would have been a better looking option for them to continue with that into production.
It's just one of Byrons pet hates. Be thankful it isn't green as well.
