Plate info is correct for it to be a Sandman. Look for evidence of blackouts along the sills, also if a Sandman it shouldn't have the bump strip along the sides or the little tabs that attach it.

Could be. Is it floor or console shift? Silver fascia? Look for welded up 10mm holes where side strips would have been on a HJ Kingswood, front of guards, either ends of doors, rear of quarters and either end of tailgate. If you aren't sure what to look for find any HJ-HX Kingswood or Premier, HZ Kingswood ute/van or even HJ-X Statesman and you'll see the holes from behind with the doors open, little phillips screws with big washers covering the holes.

thanks guys! no bum strip or evidence of tabs, its floor shift with black fascia! ive looked at it befor in the sun and couldnt notice any imperfections, the gts guards are genuine and not weld ins either. I tried contacting and emailing holden but have had no response.

If it is floor shift it isn't a Sandman, must be console shift with factory console brackets (big one at rear, and squat one at front). Fascia should be silver, there was no black U17 dash fascia in 1974, so it must have been changed regardless of whether it is a Sandman or not.

Holden will be of zero use to you.

Either black or none depending if you asked the dealer to fit them or not.
