    Sandman Windshield

I had my local glass man pull the windshield out of my 77 HX so I can get the body sand blasted and he seems to think it is tempered glass. Are these in fact tempered glass instead of our current laminated safety glass? If so, do you guys know if this windshield crosses over to another Chevrolet or Pontiac automobile that I could get a replacement windshield here in the states? Also, does the door glass cross over to another automobile? The clown that had the car before me thought it would look good to etch a Kangaroo into the door glass! Looks like a 4th grader carved the kangaroo outline in the glass with a pocket knife!

Tempered safety glass is standard for Windscreens with Laminated being an option (A22).
I believe laminated became standard in WB models along with a black border/frame. All glass, Windscreen and door glass is unique to Holden.

Luckily none of it is rare and can all be purchased new.

Agree. Only the most anal restoration would use original glass.

The black border was statesman? My blue wb had a laminated screen but no border. My white wb was no border either till I put a new screen in it.

It may just be Statesman from memory.

From what I understand the manufacturers only produce the Statesman type one now with the black edge - at least that is all I was able to source when replacing mine 12 months ago.

Yeah it was Statesman that got the black border but it is the only windscreen available now for HQ-WB.
They look quite good also. If you were anal about it you'd be matching the year and quarter dots also. Otherwise why bother?

I put new front and rear screens in my coupe about 18 months ago and the front came without the black band so I had windscreen bloke put it on before he installed it.
They look so much neater with the band.
