mainly to protect the the inside of the chassis you can't get to with the double panels inside .

It's still going to rust, especially where you live. Paint it, it will last longer, it is still possible to paint the inside so long as there is a point of access to get the paint in or use cavity wax, it works great.

i have googled about getting paint inside the chassis and the only logical suggestion is poly pipe with small holes drilled everywhere and pull it through after hooking up compressor.any ideas would be appreciated .

Yes you could have a chassis galvanised, there are places that do caravan chassis and boat trailers so a van chassis would not be a problem. I would have to re-iterate Blocker's question, why would you want to?

Where i live is a couple of klms from the ocean my thoughts were to get maximum protection,i was thinking galvanising ,then a quick whip outside with a blaster ,paint outside black then as much fish oil as i can get inside.that is the best i can think off.any suggestions i will gladly listen??

I live about 100m from the ocean and rust is a constant problem here (the locals just refer to it as "patina"), but I've not had any trouble with chassis rust on any of my cars. I reckon if you keep the outside clean and well painted and get as much fish oil in the cavities it should be fine. Chassis are pretty tough.

Keeping the van in a garage or at least under a cover will help a lot too.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

sounds like a good paint job and fish oil should keep the " patina" at bay cheers people.

I don't know about you, but I've not see a rusted through chasis and that included a van mook and I looked at that clearly was used to launch boats. (Rear quarters completely gone)

I think the mistake many if us make is referencing resto shows from the uk and us. Over here we don't salt the roads so we have a different set of rust issues.
