    Brake Boosters explained

    i will get the camera out, but there must be at least 4 different ones HQ-WB.
    i can have a guess at what i think they came from, not 100% thou.
    unless you guys have pics on your desktop.

    HQ..double prong adjustable straight shaft..
    HQ..double prong non adjustable straight shaft..
    HJ..double prong non adjustable straight shaft..
    all 6 cylinder and v8 are the same interchangeable boosters in hq and hj.

    HX..HZ..bent shaft single circle mount to pedal 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder drum brake rear..
    HX..HZ..double diaphragm disc brake rear booster..

    WB..bent shaft same as hx hz but booster will not take early pbr master..
    WB STATESMAN..double diaphram for disc rear..master cylinder looks the same as wb commercial but is not interchangeable with drum rear.

    6 that i can think of..

    HQ HJ does not interchange with HX HZ and vice versa because of the pedals and the shafts..angle of push isnt right and brakes wont work properly..
    wb will interchange with HX HZ and vice versa but wb has metric brake lines to the master cylinder..

    believe it or not that is what it came from..i wrecked an le about 6 or 7 years ago before the boom..i paid $5500 for it purely to wreck and that was a lot of bucks for something to wreck back then...:Chin: i tracked every part of that car to figure out how much i made out of it....

    cool write up, need some help, im running 4 wheel disks, wb front, vp commy rear, ive got a hz double diaphram booster but no master cylinder, i was going to put a 1" wb one on, but the bolt holes are different, whats the best thing to do, buy a wb stato booster, or buy a hz 4 wheel disk master

    Just get a normal HQ-HZ aftermarket PBR cylinder and remove the check valve from the rear brake circuit. Just screw a self tapper into the valve and rip it out with pliers.

    Not to mention they are a prick to take out! I've had the pleasure of cleaning my engine bay so it can be painted and that was the hardest thing to take out! They love placing the nuts in really awkward places!

    doesnt that mean it will only be a 15/16" master, not a 1" same as wb?? i was under the impression i needed 1"
