    Dash Cleaning?

there was a thread on here months ago that showed a GTS dash facia getting placed in a solution in a bucket to clean it. Does anyone remember that one and what the solution was please? Also how long to leave it and does it need painting after that. Cheers

I don't know about that thread, but I've cleaned a facia in soapy water and a soft scrubbing brush and it came up beautiful.

No. It came up looking like new. I originally decided to wash it because it was in a car that had done a lot of dirt road driving and there was dirt in all the nooks and crannies and it looked awful. I decided to wash it so it was clean so I could paint it, but it looked so good after the wash that I just re-installed it.

Thanks for the reply Big Rob, I bought this facia of Evilbay I'm waiting for it to arrive from the photos it looks like it needs some kind of resto I think. I just remember this dash facia going into a bucket of something but I can't remember why and if it needed painting after.

Absinth once suggested molasses in a drum but you have to know the mixture and how long to dunk it for.
Other people use caustic soda, but again dilution and period of time are going to be a factor, otherwise you'd have a lump of plastic.

Oh ok mine has been sitting in the shed for about 10 years gathering dust, may just give it a wash first
