Does anyone know did HJ Kingswood have the same side strip mounts as HZ with the little metal mounts and plastic clips on the quarters or were they stick ons?

No. The strips got thicker all the way through the series. HZ /WB are the same plastic mounts, HX is on its own I and so is HJ I think .
HJ was the same as HQ, but only if they came from the factory with protector strips. If they were added later they were self-adhesive. To my knowledge no vans had protector strips as standard. (Hope not anyway....)
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
HJ to HZ Kingswood are the same strips and same attachment. Only difference is HJ are smooth on the black bit, HX-HZ are textured. The only one that I can think of that didn't get the strips are HJ Kingswood XX7 or XU3.
The odd car out is HZ Kingswood SL sedan & wagon which got wider strips.
Thanks for the info. Trying to work out a hj shell thats been pretty knocked around, thought I had it sussed as a plain old kingswood but now I'm not sure. No side clips but the tonneau holes have been welded up, badly in the past and bogged, and the quarters are horrible. Three different paint jobs and blackjack on the floor so hard to see if its had a console. Plates are 253,4 speed, 2 seater. Chassis is BHJ06006M- Can anyone tell me the original engine number? Can't trace old Victorian records on a chassis number, got to have the engine number.
It is probably a June 1975, so GVW won't help either. Side strips on HJ-HZ Kingswood used little welded on posts for most clips, but the ends in some places had a big hole, around 10mm or so and had a screw from behind. From memory the holes were front of the guard, both ends on the doors and at the back on the quarters. Can't remember if the tailgate strip had the holes. If there is no evidence of the holes in the quarters, and it is the original body for a HJ Kingswood ute it is probably an XX7. Console mounts are the key then. Make sure it hasn't had a body swap, it may be Kingswood tags on a Holden ute body.
Send me the ID plate details, I may have it recorded with an engine number.
Have PMed you previously about this one HK1837. 6-75, 2200kg , BHJ06006M, VIN tag 8N80REJ481732J,HJ8WN80, body 481732M,Trim 1893-64V, Paint 568-15956, L32, M20,GU4. Has 2 small holes above the rear quarter lights, only small though and in a slightly different spot to another HX shell I compared it to so Im a bit unsure. To be honest I think it would probably need a body swap to be viable anyway as the quarters would need a panelbeater with the skills of Mandrake to get straight.
I probably have it in the database, I only have an older copy on my memory stick (time to update it).
It does smell Sandman though.
Might be better if its not, would be best to restore it to standard if its a Sandman. Not a huge fan of dog poo brown.
Colour won't matter much. Wouldn't bother me if a Sandman wasn't its original colour. I just wouldn't buy it if it was painted an ugly non-original colour eg if you painted a white one Voodoo or some modern colour it'd turn me off.
