    Unhappy I found a pair of BFG T/A 50 265's today...

I was at my local hardware store the other day and a salesman came up to me and said "You need bigger back tyres on your van mate".

I told him that I was looking for some, but they were hard to get in 14 inch. He then told me he had a pair of 265/50 T/A's at home that he didn't need. Obviously I wanted to know more but he was busy and said he'd bring them in and I could check them out next time I was in town.

I called in today and had a look at them. He wanted $150.00 for the pair. I was getting excited until I looked at them.

Retreads! And to make matters worse, they were badly worn on the inside wall from rubbing on the inner guard to the point that you couldn't consider putting them on a car and driving it.

And he seriously thought they were worth $150.00. I think he was a bit pissed off when I didn't take them , but I simply said that I didn't think I could drive on them at 100km/h safely.

    Pity, they looked tough too.

I'm always amazed at how much money these tyres are worth. Cheaper to get some tyres for 18 inch rims these days

I've still got one I kept with a few others as historical pieces. Too old now to put on a car though.

Yeah, I've got one that's almost worn out on a 8" 5-hole wheel (early Holden stud pattern) that was my spare for my SL/R5000 back in the '80's.

It's sitting way up in the tyre rack out of the way, I'm sure I'll die with it......

Yeah, I saw an ad on TV the other night and they were advertising tyres for "small" cars. 205/65 15" is now regarded as SMALL!!

I remember when I put 14" on my Torana back in the early '80's and my mate called it "The steamroller". How times have changed......

Most US stuff is 15" though. 14" are much less common over there.
