Great thread Greg , could you post a pic of the HX and HZ coffee pots together showing the different angles for ignition barrels.

Thanks for the pic of the ignition rods, I have put an HZ column in my HQ and couldn't remember which one I needed its been so long since I pulled them apart. :o

I'm having trouble removing my steering wheel from the column.

    Horn cap off.
Removed centre nut and surrounding nuts inside steering wheel.

Do I need to remove the ignition barrel and shroud as well? Because my service manuals don't mention that and I have been trying to lift/pull the steering wheel off with no luck so far.

You'll be wanting a steering wheel puller. They screw onto the boss and then a larger screw pushes down on the shaft freeing the wheel.

If you get stuck, I have one in the shed.. I think.. somewhere.

you cant remove any of that stuff without first removing the steering device..

then once you have the steering device off you will need this thread ..

I'll take you up on that offer, as well as the engine crane. Do it all in one hit, I have two steering wheels to remove, one is a 5mm the other a 3mm. One of them will go on FleBay.

    Thanks.

    Selector rod removal

    Hey Sean,

can you tell me how to remove the ignition selector rod on a wb. I've removed the 3 bolts that hold the column up and detached the ignition switch. Do i have to remove the steering wheel, coffepot etc or can i detach it from the other end?

    Thanks for any help.
    Andrew
