    Lightbulb Wheel arches...

So an embarrassing moment almost kicked me in the behind when I was fitting the rear floor carpet in my van.

I made a template (thankfully!) of the right hand side around the wheel arch and almost transferred it to the carpet on both sides, thinking that the wheel arches were identical. Fortunately I double-checked and realised they are totally different.

What's the story here?.... and who has ruined a brand new roll of carpet like I almost did?

"Measure twice....cut once" is very sound advice.

Lol. That has caught a lot of ute owners out when making rubber mats. I think it has something to do with the fuel filler location in station wagons and they are the same wheel arches. I may be wrong but it rings a bell.

I almost made the same mistake with my VZ ute, driver's side is way bigger and an entirely different shape to the passenger side. I was cutting a rubber ute mat, to try and prevent putting ding's in the tray.

    Oh good!
I felt like a bloody retard! At least I'm not alone.

I've owned dozens of Holdens and been in the back of every model van ever made and I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before. I've got a ute sitting under my house that I look at every day and now that I know it, it's obvious. It's amazing how something can be right there in front of you and you don't see it.

I'm a carpet layer and I learned that trick years ago the first time I put carpet in the back of my van...
    Easy mistake to make.

Yeah, you just don't even think of it being different, and it's amazing how you don't notice it.
