    Dual Fuel conversion

Hello, what does it take to get a dual fuel set up for a 253 V8? How much does it cost? Thanks.

it varies i think most places still offer a government rebate, i got a conversion in 2008 i got a $2000 rebate the system was $2500 the rebate has dropped off heaps now if theres one at all,
its not hard to set up legally it needs to be stamped by a licensed gas fitter, you could get a second hand system dirt cheap, what state are you in? ive probably got a system somewhere possibly on a panelvan im going to wreck cant remember but am sure its duel fuel, it costs $250 to have a tank restamped

Best off asking a fitter what the cost is. It can vary a lot.

It may not be worth it in the end. It may be more cost effective to do a 304 EFI conversion which will probably get similar economy (in kM/$ of fuel terms)

Byron, I run several newer Holdens with both the 304 EFI motor, plus an injected LPG dual fuel system. It has got to best the combo out there. It is both bullet-proof & economical.

Hi Doug, I don't use my Sandman as my daily driver so it tends to be used for a cruise. I suspect the cheapest part of owning the car therefore is the petrol. If your a bit the same it would take another 35 years to break even on the cost of fitting. I measure the fuel economy in "Smiles per gallon"

I wasn't talking about the new injected LPG system on an injected engine, I was referring to an old carby 253 with an old style gas system on it. Can you actually fit LPG injections systems onto an old carby fed motor nowadays?
