I was influenced hy the van craze too so my first car was a HQ van, but the car that I really wanted was the black, blown '57 - no need to name the movie, just the quote: "spotto a black '57 Chevy". This is the car Mad Max should have had.
hq 350 muncie4 sp coupe factory black that i bought i1978 wrecked it in 79 put the running gear into a hr prem including dash and door handles painted it candyapple red took out top car and peoples choice at major wa car show i even got a2 or 3 page write up in streetrodder issue 69 one regret i have was dumping the coupe body with those factory tags on it
Do you still have the engine number of the 350? Are you certain it was Warrigal or Tuxedo? Do you remember the trim?
All of this info can go into the Monaro Register if you have the GMH part of the engine number.
I remember the guy across the road had a vc sl/e commodore 308, with the two tone and the standard rims, the guy next door had hotrods but they didn't grow on me.
A Firebird black Trans Am T-tops, from Smokey and the Bandit movie. I had match box cars to match and all!! And much later on in my teens Torana SLR 5000 Blue and black and a later again a Blue Panel Van with a stateman front and smoked bubble windows and Dragway Mags.

My cousin turned up at our place one night in his ex Victoria Police, 1964 Studebaker 2 door. My Father was so impressed he went out and trades Mum's 1956 Humber Hawk on a 63 Studebaker Wagonaire, she was going to kill him so he had to find another Hawk for her really quickly. She never forgave him though as she reckoned the new Hawk was never as good as the original one!
