Spot on. Any HQ Sandman is a desirable Sandman in my eyes, even a green 173 with 4 wheel drums (such things are easily fixed!)

Just interested in feedback on the resto for the HQ van, was thinking to do an original resto that acrylic would be the way to go although most painters I talk to always give me the impression than 2 pack is the way to go. I know its less work the 2-pak than acrylic. What do most people consider is the best option for this type of resto

I know most people will say to go 2pak, personally I don't know why. 2pak is very hard and chips easy, the bigger the stone the bigger the chip. I've painted a couple of cars in 2pak for friends, it's fairly easy and has a nice gloss off the gun, sucks if you get a run though and can be a pain to touch up.

I prefer acrylic, always have. They tend to be softer and will often dent rather than chip. The early acrylics were really good and then they took out the lead content, some will say this destroyed them but the last car I painted with lead free acrylic came out much the same as any of the other cars I have painted over the years. Acrylic has to be sprayed at the correct atomisation and you have to get the distance off the surface and overlaps spot on. Acrylic touch drys quickly and is easy to rub back if you get a run or dry spray. It needs to be left for a few weeks to fully cure before final rub back and polish and will have a mirror finish if done correctly.

acrylic is easier to do at home, you don't really need a booth to get a good finish and it is far less toxic. I'll be painting my HJ in acrylic as per original.
