    A day at the wreckers

I dont usually bother going to the wreckers anymore because they are full of modern cars but today i went to get some ideas for air cond from some modern cars and was surprised with what i found. The first car i spotted was a HQ statesman, really nice gold colour with brocade trim but had been neglected,A hx one tonner,HT kingswood sedan,HG belmont ute,VC valiant,XY wagon and a few more oldies but the one that grabbed my attention was a 1975 TX gemini, looked like a one owner car with the service books etc in the glovebox, Deville blue with chamois trim. We also went to another wreckers and found 2 more VC vals and a VH and CM regal and an old jailbar truck. The other thing i noticed was how many luxury cars were there too,Rover SD1 vanden plas,Black with leather trim in good cond,V12 jag,BMWs,and mercs.I know jags can be rust buckets but this one was in really good nick and i dont understand why it was there especially being a V12, there must be people restoring these cars somewhere?

Sounds like you went to gillman?

HK, the self service wreckers seem to have taken to destroying the tags before they get to the lot.

You guys are lucky! The oldest car at my only local wreckers is a VP commodore! They crushed and got rid of all the older stuff about 5 years ago.

We had an awesome wreckers out here that had stuff dating back to the 30's! Heaps of old Holden stuff back to FC's Qey panos included! All got crushed! Now they only keep late model rubbish!

Pick and Payless at Blactown always had a older vehicle section. They often had cool stuff in there.
