Yep you have to be a member, most Vanners here are.

they rust badly there hence the move towards full rear bumpers
Yeah I reckon it had the full gate and the beaver is modified. I'm not sure about your theory of rust and full bars though!
People absolutely loathed HQ bumperettes (especially custom Van builders) I'd say this Sandman had a one piece tailgate, custom beaver and full bumper bar.

Didn't realise I had to be a member to use this site. I am actually a member but not really my cup of tea. To much modified stuff. Logged on once.
So put a photo up, not just a link to another site. Moderators can you fix this??

The photo in the thread is not mine to post anywhere, that's why I chose the link. Images on the net are NOT free for the taking as much as most think they are.
If modified stuff doesn't interest you then the photo in the link is of no interest to you anyway.

These vans are 35 to 40 years old now . They all have some rust unless u spend $35k on a survivor and even that will probably have rust. I think this is a good start for a project sandman for $5k

I am sure there is the odd one. But for the rest of the crew with only $5k to spend need to stop dreaming and end their 3 year search and buy something.

    haha i feel your pain.

Im selling an old holden ute for my dad. dead straight, no rust and original paint. tyre kickers come around and pick a small dent in the tailgate and a tear in the drivers seat cushion... get real people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $5k is two weeks pay for christ sakes

the other way to look at is what does it cost you in time to look and look and look and drive and look and fly and look and do some more looking. not a problem if you don't value your time but a bit of a headpg13 if you do. I know a peanut who flew interstate 4 times to find a rust free original and he ended up buying a modified and tubbed HX...boooo
