It comes down to tuning and whether you know how to tune. People who bag one over the other simply don't know what they are doing.

Yeah the 450 economiser series are good carbs on a 253. But these are not enough on a 308 and lack response all over the power band range on the 308 from my experience.

To be honest I have had more holleys than ive had hot dinner and for me the 600 holleys work really good on a healthy 308

Yep, I'm a Holley guy and I've got to agree Glacier....

That being said, my WB 4.2 is totally standard with a genuine 218,000kms and a 4bbl Rochester and it starts, idles, and appears to be running on just about a perfect mixture, so I'm happy to leave it alone as long as it keeps playing the game.

I've got an LX Torana with a worked 4.2 and a 2bbl 350 Holley and it flies, so it seems a lot of carbies work on 253's.....

Got to love a 4 barrel. Just love the sound of the secondaries opening.
As for which is better? The quady on my WB suits me fine. However as with any carby, unless you know a good dyno tune operator they all perform badly.

My Dyno is 5km long and black.... I suspect that where you live you might have one similar to mine.

Went into town today to pick up a sheet of ply for the interior side panels for the van and it was too long to shut the top tailgate so I had to drive all the way home with it open. I'd had the exhaust fixed last week and it's now exiting at the left hand rear corner instead of out the back. I had my windows up and the aircon on, and had no fumes at all come inside. NONE! I was very surprised (pleasantly) about that.
