    front end interchangeability????

    Hey guys,
Just wondering if someone could clarify something for me, in order to fit a HZ walk-off front to a HQ, is the only real difference the radiator support and cowl panel (panel below the windscreen)?
My current understanding is that the HQ cowling will not line up with the bonnet lines of a HJ,X,Z bonnet. The radiator support needs to be changed to support the different guards.
Is any of this true, or have i got it wrong? and is that all i need to do?
    Cheers
    Dennis.

rad supports are different...so you need a complete dog kennel from an hz...bonnet hinges, bonnet catch plate and bolts are the only thing that is the same....:errf:edit..headlights and buckets are also the same...when changing to the j to z front use wiring harness from hq,only need to mod the blinker wires..

plenum chamber beauty lines are different but this doesnt stop the front fitting...

the saying comes from the deep south of the god ol usa of a..obviously its where the dogs slept after they walked the fronts off the caddys..

...damn quicker than saying walk off front....but a bit confusing for white boys that aint from the south..

Have been trying to work out if it possible to use the bottom section ie: the lower rail including corners from HJ thru HZ radiator support panel to repair an HQ one or are they a bit different?

I believe you can convet a HJ-HZ rad support to HQ quite easily. I read it somewhere only a few days ago. Cant remember where now.....

the differences are in the corners as in where the blinkers/headlights sit on an hj to hz...yes you can use an hj to hz lower to repair the hq one...i have done it before...

Thanks for this - hopefully the rust free HJ-HZ panel I picked up at a swap meet the other week isn't as useless to me as I thought it was going to be... had brain fade when I bought it (helped by a seller who was 'certain' it was HQ!) only to be reminded how different HQ ones look when I got home and looked at my ute. Cheers

    easy to pick

just remember that all hj to hz had 2 holes in each outer end of the rad support next to the headlight holes to accomodate the blinkers...hq didnt...
