In all fairness Byron doesn't always leave his posts with a without doubt statement. A lot of them are certainly open to interpretation if you are unaware of the facts or fail to ask first!

Why should he.... There is enough reference material on this site to arrive at an informed opinion on whether a car is a sandman or not.....

Every post could be a short story trying to cover all the variations in a sandman

People should do heir own research.... Its not hard

Wow this site has degenerated from encouraging members to making them feel unwelcome. It's nothing like it was in the beginning. Sad really.

Don't be upset James. When someones 1st post questions the intelligence of the members and the content on the site then the natural reaction is to become defensive. Inners made a good point about the van not being a sandman when he asked the same question back in 2008 and in any event there is enough content to work that out for himself.

the reality is that people tend to voice their opinion louder when they can hide behind a screen and im OK with that. It happens on ALL forums including nice cuddly ones for sausage dogs n stuff

    Directly from mysandman.com.au:

It is important to note that the two codes were stamped on the Vehicle Identification Plate (ID Plate) of Sandman vehicles produced in the Brisbane (Acacia Ridge) plant. Other manufacturing plants did not stamp XX7 or XU3 on the Sandman although their authenticity is no less genuine

    It goes on to say:

However genuine Sandman vans and utes were built at other plants and identifying particular components and plate details will determine if it is a genuine Sandman.
My reply was directed to the car in the quoted post. Acacia Ridge HJ with no XX7 (no XU3 in this case as 3/75) is not a Sandman regardless of whatever else it has. Even if it was one and they've forgottten to put it on no-one will ever see it as a Sandman and it'll probably never be valued any higher than any other non-Sandman van in the same condition. Dealers did all sorts of, I won't say dodgy but lets say "fringe" things to make a car for sale. Just look at Taily's car, it started life as a Kingswood Sandman but got back changed into a Kingswood to make the sale. Lots of HX and HZ Kingswood vans got tarted up and sold as Sandmans too by dealers.

And that's exactly the type of thing I mean. What is the point of putting a nonsense post like that up? This is a Sandmansite aimed at promoting interest and knowledge about Sandmans. I think you will also see in the site rules that personal attacks and comments are not on. I don't know what happened to moderators jumping on this rubbish.
