    My New Project- HZ Kingswood

    G,day all.
    I'm a new member of mysandman.com
I've decided to make a page of my progress on my project car.

    recently, I bought this

Its a 1979 HZ Kingswood Utility

    Based on the codes
    It was a factory : 202 6 Cylinder
    M22 wide ratio 4 speed
and bench seat (an odd combo, floor shift 4spd and bench)
    3.55 Banjo
    Jasmine yellow with buckskin interior

It came with a set of jellybean mags and an alloy bullbar (which i don't plan on keeping)

All of the spares that came in the back of the tub
including chrome trims, spare guards, nose cone, interior bits etc.

reasonably rust free tub (no holes)

took Bullbar and grille off to get the bonnet open (bonnet cable snapped)

Not too much rust in the floor pan
(but someone exploded a bean in the front seat) NIGHTMARE

    Pic of interior (minus carpets)
shows of new bench seat, bean bag shit and an aftermarket steering i wasnt too fussed on.

Empty engine bay (with cardboard box to brush all the bean bags down the transmission hole)

I Plan to use a 202 Blue motor and 5 spd celica box

    buckskin trim [before]

    Trim [after cleaning]

    Body was actually pretty straight
(besides holes for tie rails n shit)

    And finally
How it would've looked new in '79

As stated before I plan to rebuild it with a 202 blue motor and celica 5 spd
(i'm only on P Plates, hence no v8)

I have a salisbury diff to put in it.
Gonna get new brakes, new rubber n bushes and new paint
haven't decided between jasmine yellow or cotillion white with blackouts n sandman decals ( i know I'd cope a lot of flack from purists if i took option two, but the decals look so damn awesome!)

Anyway, i'll keep updating this page as i progress

thanks in advance for your support and putting up with (no doubt) a million tech questions

Good to see a young fella into the older cars. If you can get yours to look like the last photo hats off to you . Always difficult when on a short budget, but you will learn plenty.

Bought a wiring harness today made of all NOS parts
    included: lights
    engine loom
    interior loom (guages switches)
    All for $80!

(not bad considering this is made from NOS looms that are all separate in individual packaging)

Also not bad considering the wreckers want $200 for the second hand loom out of a rusty, weathered wreck.

Have fun. Nothing odd about floor shift and bench seat. Lots had them. An odd combination was bucket seats, short seat separator and column shift.

You can get new lenses for the idiot light cluster from Rares for just over $20.00, look here http://www.rarespares.net.au/rarespa...oduct=9946769L for the part you need. I'd go with the Jasmine Yellow and put DY1 DY2 or DY3 stripes on it, leave it single light front and run GTS guards, that will totally confuse the purists! Great to see another youngster into the old Holdens.
