Fuel tank doesn't need to come out but the filler neck needs to be disconnected. Great work so far!

Cheers mate, so I would simply take off the filler cap and disconnect the filler neck from the tank?

As promised, some pics of the ute in its current stripped state, preparing to be sandblasted.

    Ute sitting inside the shed.

Parts taken out of the tray and organised into the cabinet

floor carpets, kick panels and dashmat wrapped in plastic. you can also see the removed steering column.

Finally found the chassis number. was buried under two tonnes of chassis black paint (not to mention i was looking in the wrong spot :P )

Bare cabin. Sans seat, dash, steering, doors, screens.

dash fascia and dash pad out

spare windscreen sitting in the back [thumbs up for the epic 90's Badboy sticker ]

I must say, in all my previous experience pulling apart cars, I've never struck such an easy car to tear down. most of the bolts are obvious and the same size, easy to access, and i didn't snap a single bolt.

On a side note, has anyone got any suggestions as to repairing rust on the perimeter of the cowl. its gone to bubbles and holes in some spots. Is this something you can just cut and weld in a patch, or is buying a complete new cowl from rare spares ($530) the only way to do it effectively.

Thanks guys. @ vombil, I thought it might be easier to cut sections. would you recommend cutting a good cowl out of a wreck or just making up a section out of sheet

id always use sections from a wreck if possible but sometimes its more trouble than its worth scabbing around for one at the right $$
