I f the chassis and id plates match is that whats makes a genuine sandman. Live to far away to have a close look. Might have been a good start, As for the body it has not got rear window blackout and I thought tha HX had a centre roof antenna. Both are probly easy fixes.
Antenna in the centre of the roof is an option and usually it's on the passenger side guard it is deffo a sandman as I have the tags and it is 18v. If you are very interested I can email them to you if you send me your email address
Cheers jennie

Dealer fitted radio is roof aerial. Left guard is factory fitted. But this all depends on who fitted radios later on. So.... Roof mount is not factory.
I will just continue with my finished kingswood that is a s close to a sandman that a Kingswood can get. As they always said one in the hand is better that two in the bush. Sadly I just would not have the dollars to complete it.
Owning A Hx sandman new in 77 the factory Sandman had a centre roof antenna. I could not imagine hat they woud disturb the roof lining to fit an antenna.
Ok. Must have just been utes then. You can see where they pulled the lining down in my WB. The radio blank plates was in the glove box. My other WB had the aerial in the guard. Vans must be different.
I was under the impression that it only was the standard in th roof on the Hx sandman model.
