253 rebuild

Dear All

Just about to put my 253 in for a rebuild.
I'm after information on what I should be asking for in the rebuild.
What cam, pistons, manifold etc.

Still tossing up if I should get the engine rebuilt for petrol and gas??

I am a bit of a novice in the mechanical aspect so will appreciate input.

I want the van to be an easy city driver but also a bit of grunt. City driving/idling is the main point.

I will try and find the specs for the cam in mine. Has no real lump on idle but gives great midrange power.

Sig Erson TQ 30 cam
edelbrock Performer manifold
bore it out to 292 and use a 307 chev piston
HEI ignition
Reco Rochester Q-Jet

get the heads built for gas and get a 4 angle valve job with STD size valves (the machinist will know)

should be good for around 290 HP and be reliable and easy to drive in city traffic with a 3.08 diff.
