A friend of mine who is into vintage bikes and cars sent me a text this morning, and while I believe this is not the place for politics, I do think the underlying message will effect all of us who are enthusiasts. the message read "Had an interesting night talking to Angry Anderson and Alan hay during Angry's campaign tour for the seat of Throsby. Alan is going for the senate for the National Party and has been campaigning for the last two years to stop the Labor party from taking vintage cars, bikes, hot rods, street machines, kit cars & 4WD's off the road permanently and killing the 6 billion dollar industry that supports it."
There was a link posted to Alan Hay's web site aswell, but I could not find any info about this. However, my friend said he would contact Alan to get more info about it.
I don't care who you prefer to vote for, but if true, this is a very sneaky, nasty policy that would kill off lifestyles and take away the enjoyment of enthusiasts who put all the work into their cars or bikes so they can proudly show them at relevant gatherings. We cannot allow our lives to be even more regulated. (what is this, communism by stealth?) I will post more info as it comes to hand, as I find myself quite angry about this, as I love my cars and I enjoy tinkering in my spare time, with the reward being the admiring looks our toys get when we roll them out.
I would not be surprised if this sneaky policy is being legislated during all the soap opera dramas within the federal government that take the media attention.
