I wouldn't bother with the sedan, just rape it as a donor, you have easily got your money's worth. Cut it through the windscreen pillars and across the floor behind the front to rear floor joint (behind the rear door hinge oillars), and turf the rest. You'll buy a complete unmolested factory paint HZ SL sedan fo less than it'll cost you to paint that one if you want one. Or get a good car registered, ready to drive for probably less than $5k, like this one:

Well its time to update again...

I did a little digging today, and was kinda disappointed by what I found, but none the less, its repairable

The upper 3/4 of the body is near mint, its the lower sections that kinda lets it down :/ I removed the headlining, and to my surprise there was not a spec of rust around the sunroof or the roof rack mounts..
But I did find a little bit on the join of the ute to the panelvan part, its been wire wheeled and rust converted just to stunt its growth until I can get to cut it out properly..

I then found a shitty weld on the upper tailgate that's started turning bad..

Then comes the worst of it.. I knew it had some, but not as much as it does :( I'll let the pictures do the talking..

    P/S Sill

    P/S Rear Quarter

    D/S Sill

    D/S Rear Quarter

    D/S Floorpan

So all in all, its worse than anticipated, but its repairable Everything that has been found rust wise has been rust converted and then given a quick coat of paint.. Just to kinda maintain it a bit until I can get to cut it out and plate it

I've got 2 new front floorpans on the way, and I'm gonna replace the rears while I'm at it just to make 100% sure its not gonna keep rusting. I'm also going to do the whole sill on both sides, because its better to be safe than sorry haha

Anyway, that's it for now, lots of hard work ahead. Hopefully I can keep chipping away at it and will have some more updates soon
    Cheers,
    Matt

Yeah, I'm kinda glad that it is the lower sections and not the gutters, cowel/plenum or the join/seam in the rear quarter, because that'd be a lot harder to fix than what needs to be done..
I'll just chip away at it and hopefully get it all fixed

Where abouts you from mate? My best friend has a Cameo Beige EK ute hidden in his shed.. haha
Year, I'm hearing ya! A lot are ''I'll keep it and fix it'' I've been searching for bits and pieces for nearly 6yrs and when I see one I go and ask about it, and most of them still sit idle where they were when last seen them :/
    Cheers,
    Matt

Yeah, the EK is a keeper.. She's 1 of 4 utes to come from the factory in Cameo Beige, he's just finished a resto on it, but he had it up for sale a while ago - I don't know if it still is - but $20,000 was the price from memory :/
He'd probably have some parts out there, I'd have to ask him... haha
    Cheers,
    Matt
