A caramel wheel might be the answer. I have had some success with these in the days I owed a panel shop. My son used one on his car, lets just say it doesn't work well on plastic.
I would usually use a plastic welder heat gun with a fine directed nozzle. But you must be extremely careful. It is slow laborious work and requires patiences. Using a steam gun works fine for removing tint on glass and I would think should work just as well on paint. Don't expect the stripes to come off in large strips. Sounds like the person who attempted on your door got an edge and pulled, removing much more then anticipated.

Thaks again I nearly rang you stickthis but I think I will track down a Caramel wheel as think that's a good bet (cheers Innuendo). Real problem is the previous paint job, hopefully a problem for future Frosty. I might regret saying this but I'll take photos and let you know results. Does anybody know where I'll find this magic wheel?

Any auto paint supplier to trade should stock them. They are know as caramel wheels and that's what you should be asking for. They do come in various sizes.

The 3D technician put me onto their own removal product, The wheel strips the sticker leaving all the glue behind for grease and wax remover. Now all I need is the Van back from the painters. I hope he doesn't charge for parking its been over 4 months for doors and tailgate.

Results are in and decals are off. The panel beater suggested if I tried to remove the decals I would remove so much paint i would end up pulling it to pieces for a bare metal resray (that otherguy) and that could take 5 years (glacier73) so I rang the 3M Tecnician (SLR_Dave) and they said to use their brand of rubber wheel (Buck). I did try the heat gun but it bubbled the doggie paint (gaddy). Many thanks to all, mission complete.
