Hi all, what can you use to clean plastic before painting to get polish,armoral off etc,i was going to use prepsol (wax and grease remover) but it says on the can dont use on plastic. thanks

ive always used prepsol on plastics and glass just use clean rags wipe on 2 or3 times let dry and use thin coats of vinyl paint
i would use thinners, then waxn grease and then depending on the size of the object maybe some plastic primer (if large) otherwise you can get the blokes at the paint shop to mix in some vinyl binder. my experience is that you need lots of light coats too. the problem is that to get the paint to flow and cover you need volume. I've never had really noteworthy success with vinyl paint

Start of by giving the part/s a good scrub with some warm soapy water, then prepsol, its okay on most plastics vinyls, if unsure try it on the undeside first. If you are not using VHT vinyl dye etc and just normal paint on non flexible plastic if it hasnt been painted before a good plastic primer is recommended I use the Upol brand with great success.
