Just wondering if the torana had the same length axles as say a HQ-WB?
At this stage i assume an axle is broken until i inspect today, could be spider gears?
but sounds like the grinding is near the wheel bearing.
I have read somthing that toranas have fine spline axles?

Different length mate. And you'll probably find most Toranas had coarse spline axles, except UC which I think were all fine spline.
I think it is late 1976 or early 1977 onwards were all fine spline. All 5.0L Toranas except the very early ones were fine spline too. So you ned to rip an axle out and se if it is 10 or 23 spline, then get the right one to suit, assuming it is the axle that has busted.
Got the axle out and had a broken spline, had to pull the other axle out and knock the bits out. Looks to be a 10 spline but 1 axle is thicker than the other, obviously had a problem before, 1 measures 24mm dia and the other is 29 mm? Both 29mm near the wheel bearing, assuming 1 could be a 6 cyl axle?

6cyl and V8 are the same. Must be just different years, made them smaller to save steel or something silly like that.
