Just saw on tv that Ford are closing down it's production line. No more car's being built here. Feel bad for all the employee's. Only a matter of time with the cheap imports.

"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
It's a dark day for Australian manufacturing. 600 million dollar loss over 5 yrs....something had to give.
GMH won't be that far behind either I think
Yes Alien, Holden is feeling the pinch. We make excellent car's, but don't support the industry by buying them.

I point the finger at the flood of cheap import cars. Pretty hard to be competitive when they're so cheap.
Wow. I guess the only positive is people that would buy a local Ford product may buy one of the other locally assembled cars ie Commodore, Cruze or one of the Toyotas which may help to keep them afloat.
Stop bringing in shit cars from china and thailand and support our car manufacturers but spose it to late
bloody labor government has a lot to answer to
Even tho it ford it a big loss to us all.
Cheaper car on the markethas just killed it. Holdens not that far behind either.
Just another Australian product gone.
We agree on something Gene!!!! I know, I'm scared too
I'd happily support them if they'd build what I want, but they don't! The last cars GMH or Holden built that I actually really wanted to buy were a WB 1-tonner and V2-V2III CV8. Every other time they missed the mark. They almost got there with the AWD VY and VZ 1-tonner buy stuffed it up by only putting a V6 in it.
It's up to the government. Our fruit, food, car and just about all industry is dying.
We import too much "rubbish" and we don't need too. It's like importing eggs to a chicken farm.
You don't have to subsidise something to compete "if" you tax the arse off unnecessary imports. Note: I said "unnecessary". We don't need 22 different eco small cars. Nobody needs that much choice!
As I see it the priorities are all wrong and it's the government that is mainly to blame allowing these cheap nasty imports on to our shore.
It all comes down to governments wanting to play on the world stage.
