"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
Im a newby and i know its 74 but did HJ come out with hq rear end?
Yes and no, they look like a HQ rear end but have some minor differences, primarily around the rear bar being used to jack the car up, whereas a HQ used an under sill jack. The rear bar sits further out as support brackets are thicker, and the body has extra re-inforcement as well. Bar should have jacking slots like a sedan but I can't see them on that one, so it os probably a HQ bar. They kept the HQ styling and HQ quarters, just like utes and vans did.
I didn't read the query that way, as a HJ sedan rear end is very much more different to a HQ other than tail-lights. HJ wagons use HQ tail-lights too but they are very different to a HQ rear end. So I took the question as stated ie HQ rear end on HJ coupe? And answered it: Yes it is HQ styling, but slightly different.
If Jason simply meant tail-lights then yes, all HJ-HZ used HQ tail-lights except sedan and Statesman. Ute, van, wagon, coupe and cab chassis all used HQ tail-lights.
