I'd love to see a van used so much it needs twin tanks. We need to stop every couple hours on our road trips for a break anyway, but then maybe I just need to an exhaust that isn't quite so loud.
Joe uses his van a fair bit. He said he used almost both tanks from Melbourne to Albury.. Its a 383 stroker with trimatic. Not sure on diff gears.

Wow, thats got to be 4.44s.
My 308 t400 3.08 gets around 17l/100. The only time I'd wished for more range was broken hill to Cobar, but it turned out the roadhouse in the middle has premium so life was good.
Wow, nearly both tanks, Melb to Albury... woah.
Always wondered why people wouldnt choose a T700 over a trimatic/T350/T400. That extra gear on the highway would pay for itself after a few thousand kms.
Would LOVE to put a T700 in to replace the trimatic thats in it.
BUT, lack of $$ to purchase one, is the biggest issue.
Will also need the block to be redrilled.
The T700 in my HG was fantastic.
BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman
Finding a mechanical T700 is getting to be a bit of a pain. Anything after VR crumbledor is electronic shifted.....cant beat the old cable shifted boxes....such a popular box for anyone with a GM motor. Im always on the lookout for a spare T700 to keep in the garage for future projects.
I've thought about it, but the 308 t400 owes me 1k, (well not including the bit where we broke down in Wilcannia and got towed back to broken hill for repairs)
I'm now wondering if I should go duel fuel, just for the extra range. Unsure on gas through.
Had 3 gas tanks on HX van. Easy. 1 filler, about 15 - 20 mins to fill them all and a range of 1100 k's. 308 5 speed supra getting around 16.5l/100 straight gas Filler was hidden behind a Ford GT cap that was fitted by the previous owner.
