Hey just wondering if the original hx sandman roof racks are rare or common and worth nothing?

They're aftermarket and pretty common. Most people don't actively look for them and generally have them on only if they were on there when they got the van.

Are you talking gutter grip (pole) roof racks or the Holden Station Wagon chrome racks?

If its an original Holden roof rack, mounts through the roof, and its got all its bits (or even most of them), then its sought after.

I thought these came out as a factory option on the wagons, and were also an option on Sandman (on HX at least?) does anyone know for sure? My HX Sandy came with one and it looks factory fitted to me.

Its the rectangle shape chrome racks. Not sure which is which.. I do have a pic ill put it up later today.

As far as I am aware they are just wagon racks. You could get a simlar setup for the lid of a Hatchback too. My friend's HZ Sandman van has them, he fitted them himself circa 1980. I've always joked with him that if he ever sells it to me it is one of the first things that will come off and go in the bin! Straight after the HQ wagon rear bar.

Sounds very much like a GMH Station Wagon chrome roof rack which was very common to fit to a Panel Van.
These are the nicest way to go if you want racks. Still wanted by others and worth something to someone if you want to sell.

Some fitted with luggage rails others simply fitted the rail cage.
