    Factory HQ rust proofing

    I saw some interesting pics on facebook this morning....thought i'd share them.

    Imagine Holden didnt do this....there'd be no HQs left anywhere

    This is why I think Statesmans rust out worse than sedans in some places. Stato was too long for the Pagewood body dip. I think it was why they stopped building W van bodies too after HQ too.

    probably why there are more holdens left than Ford And Valiant combined. that and a replaceable chassis..

    They should have drowned the cowl in the hq.... Missed it by 12 inches

    That was my first thought too!! And all the way up to the parcel shelf wouldve been nice too!!

    I always thought the above pic would make a great T-shirt. The sedan and wagon on the front, and the ute on the back.

    (Scan from the HJ glovebox owners manual). Part of the whole "The Body avoids mud and water traps" idea,- wish they didnt clog up so easy though, they could have made the drain holes bigger....

    Some body plants did dunk some car's cowls, you find it stuck to the BODY tag like glue when it is on the car prior to dipping. Dandenong I think, possibly Acacia Ridge. It is that thick black gunk under the red lead primer.
