Doors open in two stages after we cutomised the mechanisms. 1st stage is normal, albeit not quite as far (wide) as factory. 2nd stage allows stupid lift.
Getting in or out is no issue at all. With the doors up it's actually easier. I designed to the two stage option, as sometimes you just don't want the attention.
It was a big job done by my son and I in his backyard shed. I'm proud to say the door gaps are now better than factory.

Smooth ride mate! Would be great if you'd start a thread of the build process.

This is the same Van. Tiger Mica is the VU/VT colour.

It wasn't ever tagged as a HBD.

Apparently only 4 or 5 VU's were ever done. A black version in Darwin, the original MAMBO, this Tiger Mica version and the Blue employee's (Rowan) version now owned by Matt & Mandy.
They are Melbourne based so I'm sure you would have seen them around.

Alien, do you have the wiring diagram in a decent resolution?

Nice looking canopy SMQQTH. Funky look with the retro wheels on a modern ute. Pretty tuff looking!
