Thanks mate, I had been planning to buy another hz van but needed a new daily driver and thought it was a perfect fit the moment I saw it. Brad and his wife were very helpful and you could tell how passionate they were about the van.

The history behind it is an added bonus and is something I'd like to look into further, it still has the books and service paperwork showing FTP as the original owners.

Yeah it is basically number 1 after the Holden Mambo Sandman.
Factory built 02/2001 it apparently had a few canopies early on as the process hadn't quite been nailed down.
The next was the Delft Blue one owned by Matt & Mandy in 03/2001 also originally registered to FTP.

I control a data base for the V-Series and this one is well documented. Please keep us up to date with your ownership.
Look forward to seeing some more pictures. Have you got it re-registered as yet?

She's been back on the road for the last month or so now (wearing caruzn custom plates, hence the username) and I've put around 1500 k's on it, incuding a 500k round trip last weekend. Hopefully the nice weather will stick around for the next few days so I can get some decent pictures on my days off work, I'll be sure to post them up as soon as I do!

OK everyone, just found this site
Im currently building a VR commodore panelvan using the turret off a wagon and grafting it to a ute. Hopefully all my dimensions are correct as I am trying hard to replicate the feel of the HZ vans. I have the roof line at 190mm above the standard sedan hieght which is close to the originals. Been doing a fair bit of head scracthing to get it this far. Hope the pics do justice sma.jpg

Ill try and get some more pics up when I get a better connection

Can't say the VR/VS is a favourite of mine but I appreciate your idea and build. To build one that looks like a van and not just a wagon with the doors welded and the side glass filled will surely be a head turner if you can truly make it look as if the factory made it. Good on for giving it a go and I look forward to seeing progress.

Been a little while but I have been busy

Def no Wagon with the doors welded, roof is 185mm higher then a standard ute. Got to be to be a van.
Cut the rear window out as well and have a high roof as per a real panelvan, as you can see it aint no ute with a canopy :D

One side down, other to go, been debating on how to do the gutters.
