    fingers crossed

    Hi.
Ive just been reading a lot of threads on the HJ.
Im just about to start a full resto on a pv i picked up a while ago and was hoping for some info about it before I started so I could decide weather to go standard or custom.
So here are the numbers as off the plates.
    8m70tfh387597j
    hj8wm70 xx7
    387597b
    2214 60a
    568 15991
    L31 M21 GV4
    6/76
    BHJ 266622
    seat cap 2
    gvw 1950
    I hope these numbers help.
The numbers match the chassy and the rooflining has been removed but it is diferent in construction to a later shell that I also have,
Its got gts guards but a twin hl nose. And the console mount looks factory.
First is it a sandman .
Second what was its paint and trim .
    CHEERS Nath.
Isay the console mount looks factory but its dark and i dont want to rip up the carpet atm.

An XX7 stamped Tuxedo Black 308 HJ. Awesome. I'd keep that one original or at least make sure any mods are easily reversible. That's going to be a very desireable car once done.

Mr Jones ,yes the last digit is a b.
This leaves me with a dilema.
the van has a lllloootttt of cancer and a few vital organs missing.
I have a good shell and can transplant all those things that make the HJ unique.
I supose the only ethical thing to do is fully document and photograph the resto so if i sell it the new owner gets the full story.
But it will never be as valuable as if it was rust free and all original.
Please corect me if im wrong.

    Nath

Wait until another Sandman shell comes up and use it.

Is the chassis number BHJ26622B or BHJ26662B ?

Hi the chassis no is BHJ26662B.
The 666 has me a little woried.
Ill try and wait till another shell turns up .But thats not likely and if its good enough to use I might as well resto that one aswell.
Im not really into original original.
As my traid is motor triming I like to do things a little diferently.
Ill probably upset a few peeps.Because Im thinking of triming it out with black sparkly vinil and painting it black sparkly with mat black stripes etc.
Id like the inside to look like the outside.I dont see it as ruining a piece of history because there are plenty of really good original examples out there and no amount of money will turn mine into a show winner , not that i could aford it any way.

616 is the Devils number. Like all fiction stories things get misinterpreted!
Your car, do it as "you" want it. There is already way too many sheep.

Looking forward to your build and progress photos.
