Spent my weekend negotiating a very reasonable price for my new panelvan.
It's running on gas, 202 blue motor, Celica 5 spd.
was very impressed with how nice this car looked in these photos before i went up and the price was definitely attractive! the plan so far is:
- Good service- like to know everything that can be replaced is so im not getting around with old oils etc. front bushes need greasing by the sound of it too.
- Replace the HR bench seat with a bench seat that has a head rest (safety reasons)
- replace steering column as its pretty worn out and is an auto column.
- v8 upgrade 253 or 308? (I only need to change over springs from what ive heard?) worth replacing diff?
- dash pad is in excellent condition but i might need to fix/replace the inserts- it currently has no radio which doesnt bother me, but bonnet cable has broken off, and again, it has the auto select display.
- sound proof/carpet rear. plan to deck it out neatly and comfortably (after sealing all metal internally to prevent rust)
- change front to HQ premier front end.
- straighten out a few bumps, remove
2 small rust spots, then fresh paint (gun metal or back to original green)
I need to sell my VY ute which ive had advertised to recoup the cost of buying this van, the van will be my daily driven car so will do small changes each weekend when i have time. should have a few dollars left after selling my VY ute to invest into the van.
Im thinking I will keep an eye out for a HQ premier that is cheap as it would have all the parts im after, and be the most cost effective way to get to my finished product.
Any advice from you guys or other options i should consider would be greatly appreciated. i'll do my best to add photos and info regarding all changes i do. Fingers crossed i get started on them sooner than later.
