this is my hx ute purchased a few years back in tassie - thanks hx sandman - i have found info on the net that supports the fact that this combo of decals and paint was rare but doable. cant confirm however if this ute started life with those colour decals - that history is long lost. I prefer the orange on blue to the other options so when and eventual resto is done this is the combo that will be retained. this ute has now won 2 people's choice awards at seperate country ute shows (very small affairs!) but it always manages to get people talking and reminiscing about their youth.

I quite like the stark contrast of the orange stripes on blue, I have seen a yellow ute with purple stripes on it which looks great also. It was probably quite possible to order whatever decal and paint colour combination you wanted provided you were prepared to wait the extended delivery time.

I gotta say the yellow/Orange on Blue looks good, it may not have been very 70's but it does look sweet.

What are the colours of the decals? I can only make out Yellow & Orange.

DY3 is the closest I can make it out to be which is Yellow, Orange, Red.

yeah mate orange yellow and dark orange - DY4. i prefer them to the purple ones i have seen on deauville blue sandyss. cant show off too much about the girls - wife and sister in law. hehe

Hey Mick, most the Deauville Blue Sandmans I have seen with original decals had the DY2.. orange....light blue....dark blue like the van pictured below.

yeah mate mine is the only one that i have seen with the orange/orange/yellow - its had some respray work done over time so i cant be sure it started life with the DY4's. I prefer them though so i guess thats all that matters. Like the van - it looks very cool
