[Gunna Do]

Hi all i scored a heap of gearboxes today some m20s m21s and one is a strange one it is a 3 speed but on the bell housing it has v8 3 speed written on it,did they have a 3 speed gearbox behind a v8 i can't recall seeing one.

Yep they ran them Holden's tonners, sedans etc. drove a factory 253 3 on the tree sedan on a test drive back in 2007 ultra cool, should have bought it

Never heard of a one tonner with a v8 3 speed in my life are they rare

Was told of a tonner with one ( mate used to own) have personally seen and travelled in a hq ute factory with one. Was cool too. As well as the sedan ( that was a HZ )

3spd was standard behind 253 on all V8 models (or if 253 optioned after HQ) from the start of HT until the end of HZ except where auto was standard eg HJ-HZ Premier, or 4spd standard eg GTS.
3spd is actually better than 4spd in a tonner for low speed stuff as reverse is a lot lower than a V8 M20

Yip all correct I owned a hq one toner 3 speed on the tree bog stock and yip the linkages got jamed all the time!!!!
