    Trip Meter

Hi PPL. The trip meter in my van wont reset and doesnt tic over at all.
When I press the reset button while driving, it seems to affect the actual Speedo Dial, as in
    the needle drops a little!!
This leads me to believe that it is an electrical fault rather than mechanical!!
Is this correct, and if so does any one know if its an easy fix or not??

    Cheers!!
    Gaddy

There isn't much electrical bits in the speedos. They are 99% mechanical. A good instrument repairer should be able to fix it good as new.

I think what happens is when you try to zero the trip meter while the car is moving it strips a gear in the speedo. I always make sure that I only ever reset it when stationary.
They are repairable as far as I know.
Absinth knows a lot about them, ask him.

The speedo is completely mechanical if you don't count the two bulbs for the high beam and indicator lights.

They are repairable if you have spare parts, I have done three so far.

Yeah they are repairable, mine was the same. I repaired it with parts from from another speedo. Not to difficult if you are patient.
