    WB Statesman Diff Into WB Ute

    I know of a WB Statesman (not sure if it's Caprice or DeVille) was a daily driver untill a few weeks ago.
    If i was to get the diff out of it, i'm assuming they were all disc brake? Was limited slip an option?
    What mods are neede for fitment to a ute? What ratio's were available?

    Hoping someone can help.

    All disc brake. 2:78 was common.3:08 also commonish. LSD optional.
    You need to weld on mounting plates for leaf springs. Make the handbrake cable work on discs. Think you may need to change the master cylinder as well to suit discs. or I think you can convert the diff to drums but the axles may be different.
    Basicly you don't get any real advantage from the disc brakes, so its easier to use a ute diff.

    most WB stato diffs i have seen are 2.6 :1

    Most were 2.6 or 3.36.

    The one sitting here was 3.08. Unusual I know.

    Thanks for all the info guys. How does the length compare? I'm mainly doing it for the disc brakes.
    Given my Ute is the 202 should I look at re fitting the 3.55 gears if it turns out to be 2.6 diff?

    You are better off without the discs. HZ/WB rear calipers are a pain in the @rse. Drum brakes are better on the commercial. Plus the calipers don't even fit with the leaf springs, handbrake mech fouls the springs.

    If you must have the discs, you transfer it all over to a ute/van/tonner housing.

    Thanks guys, I thought it sounded like a good idea but not if it has issues.
    Even if I fitted the disc setup to my existing diff, I'm assuming still the same clearance issues with handbrake?

    yes handbrake lines to the disk / drum for statesman as same length as ute / van.

    1 tonner is longer.
